Obituary Policy:
Free Obits: The Paynesville Press prints obituaries of people who have lived in Paynesville or who have a direct connection to Paynesville (immediate family living in the area, etc.) in a news style. Obits should be roughly chronological: date of death, funeral arrangements, birth, parents, upbringing, schooling, marriage and family, work and career, community service, accomplishments, hobbies and interests, relatives (surviving and deceased), and memorials.
Obituaries that follow these guildelines - with only parents, siblings, chidren, and surviving grandparents listed by name - run free of charge. (Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces/nephews, aunts/uncles, in-laws, etc., will be listed by number only.)

Paid Obits: Families wishing to list the names of additional relatives (grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, etc.) or wanting to include wording that does not meet the standard news style may do so by paying for the obituary. The standard charge is $50, plus $10 for a picture. An additional charge ($5 per column inch) may be required of extremely lengthy obits if the family does not wish to edit/shorten the submission.

As of Jan. 1, 2012, the charge for a picture to accompany an obitary will be $10.
